can't get into secured sights
« on: November 12, 2005, 01:14:51 PM »
Unable to get into secured sites . . unable to ping system . .says I am not connected to Internet.  I am no longer able to connect to Norton . . Norton does not acknowledge that I have administrator rights .   Do not know if Norton is screwing up the secured sites issue or what???  Please advise.

Either try a system restore to a point before this or uninstall Norton and see if everything works.

It was working fine until what happened?

dog:

If you have Norton Internet Security, its firewall may not be configured correctly.  Check the documentation that came with the program.  You may be able to temporarily disable the firewall (like i can disable my Norton antivirus program) and see if you are able to connect.  If you are, the firewall settings need to be changed.

Have you tried pinging the NIC to see if it is working?  At the command prompt, type PING 127.0.0.1.  If you get four replies, the network interface card is OK.

Let us know how it goes,
