    registry question
    « on: June 11, 2015, 05:21:07 AM »
im wondering why some of the registry entries have two dots in the name instead of the whole  name. for instance in this key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\Components\x86_microsoft-windows-s..y-credssp.resources...

notice where it says windows-s..y-credssp? there are many of these entries but not all have the two dots in place of words.

i have to right-click the value name "identity" which spells out the entire key. but its very inconvenient to do this every time just to see what the key is.

i cant find any reg editor that shows complete key names.

Its due to the key length exceeding the viewable area for the editor. I haven't found one yet that shows full key path in registry tree view without showing a smaller partial path.

i kinda figured this to be the case. rather inconvenient to say the least. just wish it couldve inserted the dots somewhere at the end instead of the beginning of the key.
