    unable to install KB2953664
    « on: August 01, 2015, 06:20:39 AM »
    Hi

I have an Acer Aspire 5336 laptop running Win 7 Premium

Windows update KB2953664 tries to install everytime the laptop is used on -  but fails with this error code 8007371B

I have Googled this problem till I am blue in the face and tried all the 'fixes' that I have come across including the Microsoft Fixit tool, installing a standalone installer,  going back to an earlier restore point,  installing in Safe Mode, nothing will install this update, all other updates install fine, at the moment I have had to turn off windows update,

I suspect there are a lot of corrupt files or registry and this is causing the problem, as there has been malware on the laptop ( I know it's clean as a whistle now) and the kids have turned it off whilst it has been updating, plus they've left the laptop on whilst asleep and the battery has run out.

I do not have a repair disc as Windows was preinstalled

    any help much appreciated

I can run some scans on that computer to make sure that it is clean then we can find out why it won't install. Please let me know and I will move this topic to the malware forum.
