I said before it was 64bit.
Just got an error message when trying to download - which took forever

"task "[email protected]" reported error (0x8004102A): Error with Send/Receive

Can I just say, that apart from the error message (which I hope you can help me fix) - it seems to be going now, but it still says on the bottom of the screen "connected to Windows Live Hotmail" - why?

        Also, I have listed
        Outlook Data File (empty)
        geniebug
        joodyanne

Why do I need the empty one - did I make a mistake - can I delete it?

        Okay, let's do this.

        1) In Outlook, click on FILE and on the left side click on OPTIONS, ADD-INS and on the right side at the bottoms where it says COM Add-Ins in the drop down box click on GO. Find the Hotmail Connector and UNcheck it and click on OK.

        2) Again, click on FILE, then on the right side choose ACCOUNT SETTINGS (and again, Account Settings if necessary). In the window that opens choose the Data Files tab. Delete any unused data files. NOTE - be sure not to delete your default data file (the one you use for your primary email account)

Close Outlook and then open it again. Let's see what happens.

it is showing geniebug and joody_anne and checked is Outlook Data File - how do I delete it tho?   Go back into Outlook and delete it?

You cannot delete the one that is checked. Select one as the default data file (if you have emails you want to save, be sure you choose the correct one) and make that the default account. Then highlight the other and click on DELETE. If you want to delete both accounts, create a new one and make it the default account. Then delete the others.

Under email accounts it just shows geniebug and then joody_anne (geniebug is ticked) and is the default.
However under Data Files I have geniebug, then joodyanne (which says not available) and the Outlook data file which is checked.

I dont want to lose the emails on either geniebug and joodyanne.  Data file is empty

I guess I could delete the hotmail one (joodyanne) as I can always read the emails on the browser?

The other thing that bothers me, is every time I start Outlook it says "Preparing to instal" - but it IS installed!!

and I am still getting the error message "task "[email protected]" reported error (0x8004102A): Error with Send/Receive"

Is there a way of importing addresses from window live mail?

On the bottom of Outlook 2010 – it says “connected to Windows live hotmail” ??????

              1) Again, delete the data file you don't use.

              2) Delete the hotmail account, close & re-open Outlook, and recreate it.

Also, you really shouldn't post real email addresses on a forum. There are bots that scour forums for email addresses which are then sold to spammers.

The prolblem now is you asked me to delete the data file I dont use, but dont delete the default.   The one I dont want to use IS the default.   I then removed hotmail and thats where I am at the moment - in the process of adding it.  But nothing will change - I cant get rid of the Outlook Data File because its the default.

Make the other data file the default data file and then delete the other one.

Well that didn't work.    I now have 7 'tasks" and one of them gives the same error message as before

When you say it didn't work, I need to know exactly what you did and exactly what the result is. Do you now have only one data file? And the TASKS have an error message? That doesn't make sense.

btw, I'm logging off for the evening but will check back tomorrow.

Thanks for your help.   I dont have a data file now, just the two addresses that I originally wanted.

I now have 8 addresses when I send and receive.  I am assuming the last one (which is still processing) will be an error one.

I am sick of these problems, will uninstal outlook and see if it will work properly next time.
