Setting up AOL email
« on: November 24, 2015, 11:23:18 AM »
I am trying to set up an AOL email account, however, they seem to require a mobile phone number in order to send me a 6 digit code to initialize the account.  I do not have a cellphone that receives Text.  It is a very basic OLD flip phone that is only for emergency use and not set up for Text.  I can't seem to get any cooperation from AOL to provide an alternate means of setup.  Any ideas other than going to another email provider, but most of them all require the same info.

First set up a standard AOL mail on your desktop.

Will that work?  :)

EDIT: My bad. They now want a mobile #
Here is the sad story:
AOL Mail Alienates The Last Remnants Of Its Users By Requiring Phone Verification, Drops Into Obscurity

Try Google, Hotmail or Yahoo.
