    Yahoo redirect virus
    « on: January 11, 2016, 03:11:37 PM »
Alright so for the past month or so, two months I think, I've had this problem on my computer where every time I open a web browser (I use Chrome), I am redirected to the Yahoo! search page. This happens every time I open a new tab, type into the search bar, and often when I try to type into Google itself at google.com, it instead does it as a Yahoo! search. I have to try at least three times before it does a google search instead. When I do finally get to the Google search I want, a box pops up at the top called 'ResultsHub'. It also sometimes redirects when I click a link or hit the back button. Every time it redirects to the search page, the same url pops up before it goes to Yahoo.com:
http://searchinterneat-a.akamaihd.net/t?eq=U0EeFFhaR1oWHAwVeABdWFpBDAcadlwVVVtARBgbcAELTFsXEFQbdlgKUV8QFBNBNARaAktXUUEeIlVfAh8fHGdGM0xUFUo5VFc=. Sorry for the long numbers, but it's ALWAYS the same, even the numbers, which I've checked through multiple screenshots. It seems to be slowing my computer, but I'm not sure it it's that or internet speed. This also happens on my only other browser, Internet Explorer (or edge or whatever the new name is), which leads me to believe this is a computer problem and not a browser virus like Sweetpacks.

I have looked up multiple other answers to this to try and make it stop. I've downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and have it done scans several times, I've run my Avast! Antivirus software, I've checked the apps and downloads, I've checked the settings on Chrome. I hadn't downloaded anything recent to the start of this, and I hadn't gone to any overtly dangerous websites (I mostly only go on my school's website, Google Drive, and tumblr). I've tried everything I can think of, and I'm getting so tired of this. I just want it GONE.

I have an ASUS laptop with the most recent Windows 8 software, 3-4 years old.

Hello and welcome to Computer Hope Forum. My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer.

    1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
    2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
    3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.
    4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans while I am helping you.
    5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
    6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
    7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

If you can't access the internet with your infected computer you will have to download and transfer any programs to the computer you're using now and transfer them to the infected computer with a CD-RW or a USB storage device. I prefer a CD because a storage device can get infected. If you use a storage device hold the shift key down while inserting the USB storage device for about 10 secs. You will also have to transfer the logs you receive back to the good computer using the same method until we can get the computer back on-line.

So I downloaded the adwcleaner, but (dummy me) I closed the log and can't find it again. BUT, my problem seems to be solved, as after restarting my computer and running it again, it says I have no malware, and opening both Chrome and Internet Explorer shows no sign of the redirect, nor does searching things in the bar or google. Hoping this will be the last I see of it. Thank you very much  ;D
