Wired net work Port green LED constantly on
    « on: February 16, 2016, 12:59:25 AM »
The wired internet LAN Port LED green light stays on and does not connect to the internet. The wireless picks up internet inside the house normal.
A laptop was used to test the wired cable and it works fine. I suspect the port on  this PC is defective. If so ,how do I rectify the problem?

Depends on what tools you have.
Sample test is to boo another OS from a USB. A small version of Linux will find hardware and initialize it. It thee is a connection to the internet, a browser will work.

Was the card working at an earlier time?
Have you done some recent updates?
A generic NIC is now very low cost. Also, there fare Ethernet to USB adapters that do the job.

      Thank you for the reply.
Yes the port was functional before. Also there is internet connectivity via wireless. So I take it that port is defective hence the constant green LED staying on?
If so then the only option is to get the adapters you suggested above.

Normally one would not have both wireless and Ethernet at the same time on a Windows Desktop computer. The notable exception is when you bridge connections to share the network with another PC.

Did you say this is a laptop? A laptop may have both Ethernet and Wii-Fi adapters. You would use one or the other, but not both. Perhaps you or somebody else turned on both devices.

This link my have helpful information.
Enable or disable a network adapter
See if you can disable the adapter.  :)
