Picking up PROCESSOR

this actually my prob..

i don tknow whats d difference of the Processors..

like the AMD Athlon vs. the Pentium 4...

whats d differnce?

here i am bein confused on what should i choose..
i found the AMD's less expensive but i dont know if it would be more stronger or faster if it'll be the P4...

just a simple question...hope som1 could help me..thanks..
