CD recording software issues
« on: December 10, 2005, 08:15:25 AM »
When I start my computer, I get a message that says "Devices or applications disabled.  CD Recording Software will cause Windows to become unstable.  Windows has prevented these drivers from loading."  Now, other than the obvious question, "What can I do to fix this?", my other concern is will this affect the DVD writer itself.  ie:  cause it to not turn on or work at all.

Here is some information:

My Computer is an HP
My DVD writer is an Optorite external
the dvd writer green light in the back comes on when plugged into computer but nothing else when plugged into power supply
I am running Windows XP home edition

I appreciate the help.

One thing you can try...Go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager and find the DVDRom. Right click it and select remove. This will give you an error message ignore it and choose yes.
Upon re-boot WinXP will automatically re-install the DVD drive and install the drivers for it.
Hope this helps.

Start a new thread with some more info on your system; OS and specifics and someone will be along shortly to assist...
