Data error reading FAT
« on: December 12, 2005, 02:58:12 PM »
I have a Gateway Computer that originall had Windows2000 loading. I ran KillDisk on it, and then tried to load a new copy of Windows 98 SE.

While running the Boot Floopy - Performed a ScanDisk and got a message which said " data error reading FAT"

Can I fix this probelm of get arounf it so that I can load Windows 98SE?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Did this gateway pc.......have recovery disks.....
What?
Tell us more........you have only given half of the story of this pc.....

To get around this problem......change the boot sequence in the bios setup<del key on boot> to boot from cdrom drive......its should load win98se you will be asked to format the c drive just answer yes to all>.......then you have the graphics/sound drivers etc problem.....give it a wirl.

The reason you have this problem is twofold.......one the gateway was settup for ntfs......and not fat32and killdisk......never use it......imahao
