Hi
I have a copy of windows xp home edition installed on thie computer i have now. I am about to build another computer and wondered if there is away to install my copy of windows xp onto the new computer.

Not legally. Bill says one copy of Windows to each machine. You can only activate on one set of hardware.

Ok, but if i installed this xp home on my new computer and took it of my old one would this work.

Was this a copy of your own winxp disk? if so its ok to use it......and under the ula?.....you are allowed to do this.?

The previous poster ..knows little........but is ok selling trash to people of the net....<do i know more ..i can say>?

As above -

If your copy of Windows XP is legal, you own that copy in perpetuity (forever).  As long as it is on one machine, you can use it, move it and update it legally.

Also as above, you may need to reauthenticate/reactivate the software with MS if you change machines or hardware, otherwise you can experience problems (updates, operation, etc.).

The above applies to OEM/retail versions of their software, whether preloaded or not.  Other license schemes, business versions, etc. may be different.
