Hard Drive Restart
« on: December 17, 2005, 03:06:06 PM »
I want to wipe my hard drive clean. Is it possible to just copy the 'Windows' folder on the C drive onto a DVD, then, with a clean hard drive load that file on and make it work. If so, how do you transfer the file onto the clean disk. And if not, how do I start a fresh without an XP CD??

You need a legal copy of XP, and this is to install it as well as to activate it.

Well if I just copy the windows that i've had on my computer for a while can I, I'm getting rid of EVERYTHING from my hard drive, my computer didnt come with a XP CD, sorta wierd to buy XP when i already have it. Well, if there was a way to delete everything but the windows files then that could work, but I dont know what i need to keep.

You can buy W2K for 'next to nothing' and your computer will run better too.
There are no registration or validation hoops to jump through either.

      Short story. No!
