sound card plays at higher pitch

need help diagnosing my pc/sound card- all audio files-cd, internet radio etc. plays much higher pitch- like playing a record at the wrong speed. how do I fix that? windows 2000, AC97 sound card. do I need to update my drivers? pitch changed a few months ago suddenly. pls respond here or to email: [email protected]

What do you think happened to change it from perfectly functioning to this?

Yes, updated drivers, or reinstalling the correct drivers is a good place to start. What is the computer or motherboard make/model?
