By default when a word document is saved by clicking on the Save as option, the dialog pops up which has a list of save as file type(file extension) drop down list. the default ones are .doc, .html..rtf, etc .....
I would like to have another customized file extension ie. something like .irpt
Could anyone tell me if its possible to add a new file extension in the already existing list?.....please lemme know  8)

in Windows explorer you can go to Tools-folder options->filetypes. there you can add your new extension then associate it with Word. OR you could get the resource kit command line tool "ASSOCIATE" to add your new extension. http://www.ss64.com/nt/associate.html
