movies don't play right

When i go to play a movie on my computer the movie plays at a faster speed that what it should. i have tried several different players. it"s like you have it going fast forward but its not

Have you tried different movies?  In Media Player you have the option to change the play speed, look in the 'enhancements'.

thats not it no matter what movie what player i use it does the same thing like its going a little faster than what it should cant understand words

its like the movie will go in fast forward then slow down then speed up again.  the audio is choppy so you cant understand the words. it does this with power dvd windows media. it will burn movies but even that is taking forever now. does that explain better?

Well I was hoping for pertinent details like make/model of computer, operating system, RAM amount, has it ever worked right, and what has preceded this, plus the usual do you have spyware/adware/antivirus solution in place and being used?
