    ATI problem with s-video, composite
    « on: August 04, 2004, 11:05:58 AM »
;)I have Intel Pentium 4 CPU with 128 RAM, Windows XP installed. I have one problem with my Graphic Card ATI Radeon 9000 Pro. I cannot use S-video and composite function when I connect camcorder or any player to view on monitor. I see black picture with audio only. When I use analogue connection it works properly and the picture is alright. It was working properly when I was using Windows Me. I tried to install all new drivers but without any solution. So please give your expert opinion on this to solve the problem. Thanks.

Perhaps your very low amount of RAM is the problem.

The picture didn't come even after using windows movie maker. Actually when I formated my computer from windows me to xp this problem occured. May be the cable which i use to connect is damaged?

It is more likely a RAM problem, especially after you told us that it functioned properly on ME

XP requires more RAM to function than ME and thus, leaves less room for other tasks.

        How RAM Works

Recently one of my friends also faced this problem. The only thing he did is that he took out the card from his computer and tried in other one. When he again installed in his computer he faced problem like me. Regarding RAM I read in ATI guide that 128 RAM is sufficient for running this program.

Sufficient to run the program, perhaps, but that is not all the RAM has to handle. Windows XP also requires RAM. And so do the other programs installed.

As suggested by you I upgraded my CPU to Intel Pentium 4 (865), 3.2 Ghz & 512 DDR RAM. But it didn't solve the problem. I think The card is not supported by Windows XP.

I have owned an ATI/Radeon 9000Pro and it worked fine on Windows XP. However, I did not use the functions you used. Have you looked into downloading the latest drivers and perhaps contacting ATI technical support?

You may experience inconsistent graphic performance with textures if you set the Mipmap Detail Level in the ATI Direct3D Control Panel to any setting except High Quality copyright microsoft 2004

The Mipmap Detail Level in ATI Direct 3D control panel is set to High Quality.
