      i don't think that you can link (in windows) a sp1 to a sp2, upgrade the sp1 to sp2
Everybody knows you can't click here. But I know you will try it :)

Here is all you ever cared to know about networks: http://www.huntel.net/kjbisanz/lan/intro.htm

Read it, memorize it, apply it. And there is a quiz at the end. Now, go forth and packet switch.

Sorry guys this wasn't any help !!
I installed SP2 on the other computer and I still have the still problems !! Then I read through all of the other website and still didn't find any help !!!
Please send me a guide !!

This is how I did it :

        • [glb]1.[/glb]
I connected the computers with a LAN cable (doesn't matter which !!).
        • [glb]2.[/glb]
On both computer I installed the IP-Protokoll and set it on resolving the IP-Address automatically.
        • [glb]3.[/glb]
I made Windows do the work, with the network-wizard. Chose that I have the internet-connection, gave it a name e.g Internet.
        • [glb]4.[/glb]
At last I chose that the sevice isn't being done on the other computer and clicked "Finish".
          [glb]
        • (5. Restarted !)[/glb]

In the wizard, did you select 'this computer connects to the internet directly' or did you choose more then choose 'this computer connects to a home or office network' or something like that, I don't remember exactly.

(I just tranlated this, because I use a german Windows version !)

Did you connect both computers to a router via cat5 or did you hook one comouter to the router and the other computer to the first computer? A good rundown of parts would be nice. More info about your setup would be nice too.

              So again :

Information about the network to build :

Connection to internet: W-LAN  with router (only my computer)

              Network connection: LAN

              Internet-connection:  broadband

Software: Windows XP    SP2 (both computers)

              Parts:
              both onboard network cards !
LAN-Cable (doesn't matter which, because they all make a network !)

So you are not connecting the other computer to the router, just connecting to the other computer?

If your computer is hooked to the router and the router to the modem and the moden to your cable or phone line, and you are note getting the internet, it could be the computer not configuring with the router or the router not configuring with the modem. The manuals you should have gotten with each will tell you how to configure them.

Are you connecting your other computer to your computer using a crossover cable?

Jeronimo_Mc_Kinsley ....well , I dont know exactly what it is your trying to acheive, but if it was me and I wanted to connect 3 computers to the net using one internet connection .....I would do the following ..

Each computer requires a ethernet adapter .....(either wired or wireless )
1- 4 port router    ........ and again either wired or wireless

Then the connection is simple ......  incoming internet connection goes into the broadband modem ......

From the output of the modem to the imput of the router .

From the output of the 4 port router to each of the 3 computers via their ethernet adapter ( using a CAT 5 cable or wireless if the router and ethernet adapters are wireless )

It doesnt matter which operating system is installed on the various pcs .......they are all now connected to the net .

I think this is what your trying to do.

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.
