Is there any power coming from the wall outlet & surge protector?
You can check it with another appliance.

3 prong from the plug was still in outlet when i got home. no longer any power in that specific outlet. there is power in the outlet and surge protector that it is plugged in now. flashing green light on back of computer while plugged in but will not turn power on.

Check all the leads for dog damage and make sure everything is plugged in correctly.
What was the state of everthing after the dog did it's trick?
Was the computer moved? Were any leads pulled out? Did the dog fry?

checked all leads. Can check them again when I get home. Even un-did some of them and re-attached. Nothing was knocked over, maybe the computer slightly shifted but wouldn't think enough to matter.  Questioned my kids extensively about all that. No, dog did not fry, wanted to kill her when i saw what she had done.  :)

Perhaps it fell over & the kids put it back, they do tell lies you know.

Yes, that I know...I have 4.  I questioned the youngest (12) but still need to ask my 14 year old. Maybe that will shed some light on the situation.  Thank you for trying to figure this out for me.

You may need to open the case and make sure all it's gizzards are plugged in properly.

Opened it up last night and checked...nothing seemed loose or out of place. Even took out lithium battery to try and re-set...still a no go after that. Wondering if since I have a flashing green light on the back (showing power going in??) if it zapped the power supply box inside. Does that make any sense?

After you have fully checked out the other stuff that would have been my next suggestion.
            (To swap out the PSU)
These things may or may not be things you can do yourself, it depends on your skills.
If you're unsure it would be best to take it to someone who knows.

I can admit that my computer skills do not include knowing how to do anything like that...guess I will be taking somewhere. Again, Thank You for your help!

And since it is an HP it will have a proprietary power $upply.
