    Horrible Graphics
    « on: September 11, 2018, 01:58:35 PM »
I know next to nothing about graphics cards. In a machine I recently acquired is a GeForce GTX 550 TI card that when booted with Windows 7 shows a very greenish screen with horrible resolution including the Windows animated throbber. Then the throbber disappears and the screen is suddenly totally black (blank).  I have no problem when I connect the same monitor using a VGA connection to a different machine with integrated graphics. I tried both connections at the card and both connections at the monitor.

So it must not be the monitor.
Turn off the computer and remove the  GeForce  card.
Use  the VGA connection for the monitor.
    Power the machine back on.
You will  now get a normal display with normal resolution.

You may have to cycle the power one once again for the VGA to be found.

    Does that work?  :)

Here is a recent guide that might help.

I suggest you try a different display adapter.

Please, Allan, how/where do I choose a different display adapter? Windows 7 device manager? I can't see device manager or Windows Explorer with this horrible graphics issue.

The board is an ASUS Sabertooth X79. I'm looking at its manual and the machine--rear panel and internal connectors but I don't see that it has a VGA connection to plug into from the monitor.

EDIT: Is this the back side of your machine?
