OE6 Freezes when trying to insert pic into email
« on: January 03, 2006, 05:09:51 AM »
I have new laptop xp Home Edition (OE6), use Mozilla.

I have two other computors with which I have never had the following problem.

When I want to insert a pic into an email, I click on Insert| picture | and a browse box comes up. When I try to click on My Documents, or My Computer within this browse box, or even go up one level, or select a pic which is showing on that particular browse box - everything freezes, and I have to Ctrl-alt-del (even tho the Task Manager shows everything running)

I am well aware that I can send a file attachment, and do not have a problem with it, but with trying to insert a pic - it freezes up every time.    I took Picasso2 off, no difference, and I'm not surprised, as I run Picasso2 with the other 2 pcs no problem.  As far as I know - this laptop is similarly set up to the other laptop - tho there could be something I am not aware of

Can anyone help please?

I would suspect that there's some other process running on your computer that is interfering with Outlook Express' ability to browse out to find pictures to insert. This process may or may not be malware.

First I would look in Start, All Programs, Startup and delete anything that you don't need to automatically run when you boot Windows XP.

Then I would install the three main anti-spyware programs and let them see if they can find and eliminate any malware on your computer:

Then update your virus scanner and do a scan to make sure that you're virus-free.
