Do you have cmd.exe on your computer? (search for it)
If so, try using it to run ipconfig.

Never mind I found your solution. Apparently you are stuck in Command.com Prompt. To fix this type in CD \ {enter} you should see C:> Now use IPCONFIG /ALL. You just have to get out of command.com Let me know if it works or not.  :D

Ipconfig /all should work if you do the CD \ . ipconfig /all <- Does not work in dos if you are running from command.com/ Look at your dos screen. Notice that the bar reads Command Prompt. Command.com IPconfig is not run from command.com.. I dont want to et complicated. Yes there is a space when you type in CD / Can I get the new updated screenshot so i can diagnoise it?

    It is IPCONFIG /ALL

    Not IPCONFIG/ALL

    Note the space.

If you want to see your Ip address and etc.. On XP double click on the 2 computers on the system task bar. (basically the computers that tell you you are connected.) From there there should be a tab on it that will show you your IP subnet marks. Local Ip address. etcc

      <- PS note my OS

There should be a way for it to show you from that window that shows that you are connected last time i checked and use XP at school

all you needed was to open ports... are you using DSL router. The default address of a dsl router is 192.168.1.1 <- yes you type it in IE as a web address

You can play around with firewall by trying to find it good luck. By the way your firewall also control your ports. IPconfig doesnt control open or close ports

Is your firewall set up to have those prots open? If not then its your own firewalls fault. If so then you have some kind of other firewall out there. What is the fireall you are using?

I assume that you resolved the problem by adding a space between IPCONFIG and /ALL..

That was my 1st thought Roof, I tried it & I don't need to add the space.

It says Command.Com which means he is using a version of Windows other than Windows 2000 or Xp.

In Windows XP, you can use IPCONFIG/ALL but I doubt any version below Windows 2000 is that forgiving.

actually type in command.com in your command prompt. Notice how it s running it as an apllication. Now try using Ipconfig /all it doesnt work. You have to get out of command.com and the only way i know is CD \

I'm sure that made a lot more sense to you than it did to me. :D

          My W2k has command.com & cmd.exe, I don't use command.com at all.

If you run comand prompt and type in command.com and hit enter  it will automatically swich to command.com that is what i was talking about. how you get back to the regular command prompt I dont know. In windows 2000 there is command.com and a command prompt program? I only see comand prompt where would I find this command.com

I think we're talking the same thing using different words. :)
You need to type exit <enter> to get out of command.com.
I made a shortcut to cmd.exe & dragged it into my taskbar.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT .the system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft windows applications.choose 'close' to terminate the application.

            what I have doing this?
