full system recovery

help i am trying to do a full system recovery but it won't let me.  It asked for a password but I did not have one so I changed it in the adminstrator. now it is not showing the system recovery application can someone help :-[

sorry guys it is windows xp the computer is a compac.  I think a hacker may have got into it because there was a lot I could not do to try and fix it every time i tried not able to do that :-[

More specifics would be helpful about the computer AND the problems. How did you come to believe a hacker got into it? Are you the only person with physical access to this machine?
