    DVD/CD-ROM drive
    « on: December 08, 2019, 08:40:57 AM »
    Hello

I need to replace my CD/DVD drive amd I am not sure which type or model I need.

I have a Packard Bell PC iMedia D2525 UK and in my Win 10 Device Manager, under DVD/CD-ROM drives, I can see:

    HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GHDON ATA Device.

    Thank you for any help.

    Regards

All PC's use a standard type of optical drive nowadays (SATA). Your concerns should only need to be standard or slimline & what functions you want. I.e blu-ray, disc writing/rewriting, etc.

Why do you need to replace the existing drive?

Many thanks, Lisa - just what the doctor ordered.

Thanks, too, Accessless. I need a replacement because sometimes I can watch normally bought DVDs and other times I can't. Also, when I am burning home videos to DVD, the drive struggles - I can hear the disc whirring around in the drive and the light flashes on and off whereas it should remain stable while burning. It wasn't always like this, but I can tell it is flagging. It's about 3-4 years old and in constant use.

      Thanks again.
