games running particularly slow

me and my brother both use the same game on our computers but his one runs mush smoother and faster.
both systems run around 2 ghz and mine has 1 gb of ram whereas his has 512mbs, if thats any help. I dont know if either have graphics card on them, could that be the problem, if not then whats the problem?

      The Operating Systems?

      the game is command and conquer red laert 2 and the operating systems are both xp, don't know about video adapters though(don't even know wht they are)

        Well your computer specs aren't the problem, that's for sure.

        Scan for viruses and Spyware. You might also consider running a Disk Defrag. That might help as well.
