Using Parallel Data Transfer Cable from old to new
« on: January 22, 2006, 07:27:34 PM »
I searched and can not find how to use a QVS Parallel Data Transfer Cable to take a big file of my old Compag Deskpro 486 to my Dell Dimension 8300? The Dell has XP Pro with service pack 2 and the old Compaq Windows 95 :(

It says on the QVS package that you can use WIndows software or even DOS, but I can't find a utility.

I am going to go to bed as I am very tired. Can you e-mail me at [email protected] if you know anything :D

I appreciate your attention to this rare problem. I am trying to save from having to buy a USB to Parallel port jump drive dealy. I want to give away the computer but I
have a file with stuff I want to keep.

    Thanks! ;)

I am not sure what that is, but my compaq has no other type of ports and no network as well. The only viaable way is parallel to my Dell's Parallel via the transfer cable.
I could spend more for another gizmo but this should work.

    What do you think :-?

mncfp....... Have you considered slaving the old hard drive to the newer machine and copy the file you want over to the new one ?

I think you're shifting the load to the wrong people. If you bought it and you think that's the only way then google away.

A better soluttion has now been proposed by dl65
