About dual booting and changing between kali linux and windows
    « on: January 31, 2020, 04:12:00 AM »
So my name is Kostas and i am 16 years old. I want to run Kali Linux and i dont really know how. I know the theory but i have some questions before i continue in action. In order to run Kali i need to have a live usb right? Done. So when i load kali in my live usb what do i do in order to run it? I shutdown my computer and jsut turn it on with usb plugged?

Boot computer and when it gives option to boot from USB agree. Might have to go into BIOS and change boot order for USB to be listed before Hard Drive in boot order listing. Other method is pressing F9 and chose boot device after the splash screen of the system and before windows boots. F9 will pop up a menu to select an alternate boot device. *However if you have boot order as USB prior to Hard Drive in BIOS, each time the USB stick is installed into a USB port prior to boot it will boot the Linux off that USB flash drive.

What confuses me is the User doesnt know the difference between a live Linux distro or if he actuallt wants it installed...i'll wait for feedback.

A live Linux Distro runs from the CD/USB...if you find you want it installed and dual = boot i would suggest a 2nd HDD to install to...it's the cleanest method.
Then it's a simple method of selecting which drive to boot to at startup.
