Spool32(Not responding)
« on: February 03, 2006, 10:33:31 AM »
When on the internet, some windows have a print tab. If I click on these, my computer and printer freezes up. To unlock the computer I have two choices: !. turn off the computer 2. Hit CTRL+ALT+DEL. When I perform the second choice, the Close Program dialogue box has Spool32(Not responding) highlighted. I have gone to the Microsoft web and tried all of the Spool32 error fixes. I have not found Spool32(Not responding) in any of the fixes and none of the fixes have cured my problem. Surely I am not the only Windows ME user to have this problem. I am running a Dell Dimension XPS B 1000 and printing to a HP Deskjet 952C using IE 5.50 .

Have you tried the obvious like system file checker/reinstall printer drivers?
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.

Thanks for the input. As you can see by my post, I have been there -done-that. I have found nothing that references the problem: Spool32(Not responding). Yes, I have tried all the obvious things like file checkers, scan disk, deleating my printer software/re-installing it, re-installing Windows ME and a long list of other suggestions. The problem is that I cannot find a direct reference to the error message: Spool32(Not responding). If anyone can find the fix for this, I would be grateful.

Yes. I use the Windows automatic update from Microsoft.

Surely ME runs higher than IE 5.50?

Yes, that's true. I was having this problem long before I updated to IE 5.50. I really didn't feel the need to update IE any further. I don't really do that much surfing. Besides Microsoft is about to stop the support for Windows ME.
