Hi...my internet provider allowed me to exchange my dsl modem which is all they said they could or knew to do. It still doesn't need a cd with it but so far no error messages since my exchange. If I do continue to receive the message I will do exactly what you said in a heart beat.  Thanks so much for your help!

I called and they suggested that I switch out my dsl modem, which I did. I haven't received any errors since i've done this...hopefully this was my problem, but if not I will contact them again and go from there. thanks for all the help from each!
