What is a VFW drive?

What is a vfw drive?  do all computers have one?  if so, where's mine?  i'm trying to use my new video camera thingy that I just hooked up, and everytime I click on the icon to use it, it says "Can't find VFW drive".  What am I doing wrong?

    stephanie.....I'm not sure but I think its something related to the software for your vid cam.....Perhaps have a read of the manual which came with the camera ...it may explain what it is ......It may be that you havent installed all the software ...or it isnt configured correctly.
