installing external drive
« on: February 10, 2006, 08:19:42 AM »
Last hope,

Hi,I tried elsewhere to fix this problem with no result. My cd-rom drive on my laptop has been playing up occaisionally so decided to replace with an external connected via the pcmcia socket.Device manager says its there and it works ok! My computer says the drive is there and ok.

It plays music but every time I try to play a game I get an error message.'Setup.now.exe-Application Error.  The application failed to initialize properly(oxc0000005).

The disc spins but won't start.I have windows Xp.

Help.

Try the drive oon another computer to see if it works properly. does Windows see the drive? Eventually you will need a real CD to boot from. Just remember....  ;)

Does it do this with all game CD's or just one specifically? If so is it a burnt copy or an original?
