Dell Insiprion 1545 not recognizing new SSD

Trying to upgrade a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop computer with a new SSD. I used Acronis to copy the hard drive but could only get the drive to boot if I stuck in directly into the port. It does not recognize the dive if it is properly installed in the mounting rack and inserted into the slot. The new drive is a PNY Do-It-Yourself 1TB upgrade kit.

well...you allready answered...if you put it directly into the slot it works. So, I guess it is the mounting rack?
acronis will recognize the drive also if it is in the usb dock. Try that option also.
