Video card throttling after thermal pad change
    « on: December 22, 2021, 08:22:36 AM »
    Hello everyone.
I recently changed the thermal pads on my video card. I have an AMD HD 7950. I was noticing high temps so i decided to open up the card and there i found that the original thermal pads were almost gone and were dirty so i ordered a 1mm thermal pad and changed it.
After changing the thermal pads when I turned on my PC, all the fans started to throttle all the way to a hundred percent and in a few secs the pc would go into power saving mode.
After some research i found that maybe the thermal pad is very thin and there is no contact between the card and heatsink
So i ordered another thermal pad, this time a 2mm one.
After everything was done I fired up the PC again and still it was giving me the dame results.
I would really appreciate your help as I am not that well off and can't afford a new card at the moment.
