Dvd Recorders Firmware

 8-)Hey board havent been around for a while due to school.
but i wanted to ask how do i update the firmware of my two dvd recorders
which are
TDK DVDRW840G USB DEVICE
and
SONY DVDRW DRU-720A USB Device
i looked at other post in other forums and they say that if you dont download the right firmware it can mess up your drive so that's why i'm asking if someone can help with  the firmware for my drive.

if you are not having issues, there is absolutely no need to do this. It is a good way to get a paperweight for no good reason.  

If you do have issues, we can talk about those too.

sometimes it will have problems but i guess its the media at times, i just thought updating was something good to do

Not necessarily. BIOS flashes have caused paperweights as well as firmware updates that were attempted just because they were new.

If you do not have issues that are specifically addressed with an update, I would pass (except for Windows itself)!
