    Ok I acknowledge my stupidity -  somehow Tails got onto my PC [I did use a USB stick,] and I expect you peeps know what ensued,  chastise me - I deserve it.  But in the long long run  - PLEASE SAVE MY SANITY & COMP,  beggingly PLEASE.

      Uh... disconnect the USB stick and reboot?

      Tails is a specialized distribution of Linux that works the way you described.

      If you somehow ignored the warnings it gives and installed it to your hard drive then you will need to reinstall Windows or do a factory reset (if the recovery partition(s) are still intact).

      I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

      I agree with B.C Programmer that you will need to do a factory reset.
      Windows 8 and Windows 10 dual boot with two SSD's
