Connections problems

My ISP installed a new modem (5ghz0 last Tuesday and since then my laptop connects but immediately disconnects. I called them and they changed the frequency to 2.4 ghz. I was able to get it working once by uninstalling the network adapter, restarted and was able to log in. When I go into Device Manager it shows that the adapter is working properly. Any ideas?
