    Bios order help please
    « on: December 23, 2022, 07:51:44 PM »
    Good evening everybody,

I am not technical but usually can get by via YouTube or googling my issues… but I can’t seem to figure this one out.

I have a mini pc. (ACEPC AK2) Windows 10. I turned it on the other day and got some kind of EFI SHELL Version error?
From what I googled, I think my pc wacked out & threw my bios out of order.

I’ve tried to switch it a bunch of different ways but i still can’t bring it back to normal.

If anyone can give me guidance, I would appreciate it greatly.

    Thank you, Denise.

PS: I tried to attach pics of my pc screen here from my iPhone but it says I am sending them in the wrong format. Ugh! Help!!!

Can you reproduce the error and tell us exactly what the error is?

      Thank you for reaching out!!

When my computer turns on, I get a message that says EFI shell version 2.50.
      Current running mode, 1.1.2
Map; cannot find required map name.

Press, ESC and two seconds to skip startup.nah, any other key to continue.
      Shell>

I am able to get into the bios, however, i think i changed it every way possible and when it restarts, I’m back to the EFI Shell message.

PS: is there any way to attach a photo here from my iPhone? I would be able to show what I see in the bios/boot

First thing I would try is to replace the cmos battery on the motherboard. When you take out the old battery, don't replace it for 30 minutes or so. Let's see if that helps.

Make certain that you unplug the computer from the wall and then press the power button on the computer for about 30 seconds before you do that to discharge the motherboard.

Ok. I’ll order a battery and try your suggestions. I’ll be back with the results. THANKS SO MUCH!!

Just to clarify Quantos' excellent post, press the power button AFTER you pull the power cord and AFTER you remove the cmos battery and before you insert the new one.
