when I started up my pc, it goes like usual until it load windows to display desktop screen. It take too much time (3-5 minutes).. I also have my friend who his pc take about 15 minute to load into windows desktop... What problems cause such symptom... Someone know how to fix it... thanx

Malware (spyware/adware/virii)

Not enough free disk space

Background processes running at startup which are not needed

Not enough RAM if using XP

Defective hardware

I'd say it's probably one of the first three.....
In general, the PEBKAC.  Whether it's now or was three weeks ago, the PEBKAC.
Unsafe browsing and general computer / internet illiteracy IS the users problem.  Don't have sex if you don't know how to use a condom.

Also ridding the registry of obsolete items and using a registry optimiser can help.
