mprexe illegal operation!
« on: March 03, 2006, 03:24:08 PM »
I am at my wits end!  Started getting an mprexe illegal operation box at start-up about three weeks ago.  Details are "caused an invalid Page Fault in Module gdowxp.dll at 0167:10002360....."  If I don't close the box and just slide it over to the side of the desktop the 'puter works pretty much as it should with a couple minor exceptions.  If I DO close the box nothing works!  Running Windows 98SE, 32megs of ram, Avast anti-virus.  I've tried everything I can think of and it still is there!  I do know that there are two files that look a lot alike, mprexe and mprexe.exe.  Does anyone have an idea about how I can get the stupid thing to go away?  I am not a "into the guts of the computer" kind of guy.  I use this thing for Ebay and Email only.  Would really apreciate any help.

You have a malware infection. Carry out the procedures detailed in this post and report back.

Aha! It works! This is a link to nowhere.
Highlight works ok but colour etc tags don't.

To the OP, sorry for the rambling. I promise I'll stay on topic from now on.

I know I'm not the sharpest tack in the box but I have clicked links and this link does nothing.  I tried at least 10 times last night and nada.  A bit frustrating to say the least.  How about just sending me the URL?  :)

"It" may be "fixed". I wonder what else remains "unfixed"?
