Transparent Background in Flash 8

How do I make the background transparent in Flash 8?  I've tried importing transparent .PNG files for the background, but it just shows up as white.  This is't any kind of multi frame video, it just has a media playback device in the middle to stream an .mp3.  All I want to do is make the video useful in any webpage rather than one specified color.  Is this possible?
