I have a desktop, a Dell, which is presenting some confusing errors... I'm not sure which to replace.. the memory or the motherboard.
Symptom 1:
Slot1: Stick1 = No POST just hangs at black screen
Slot2: Stick2
Symptom 2:
Slot1: Stick2 = Video card recognized and hangs
Slot2: Stick1
Symptom 3:
Slot1: Stick1 = Diagnostic Failure (Memory Data Bus Stress Test)
Slot2: Empty
Symptom 4:
Slot1: Stick2 = Diagnostics Pass and system boots
Slot2: Empty
It would seem that Stick 1 is defective.. but isn't the stress test for the data bus on the board?
