cant unlock hard disk

the hard disk of my  acer travel mate laptop was lock by by room mate,i cant unlock  it,now i cant find him,i cant bring back to the store where i bought it coz its in another country. any of you guys help me to unlock my hard drive?

What exactly do you mean by locked? Some details would be helpful.

i cant access to the disk,theres a password option for locking the hard disk in bios setup, i dont have the password. i know my frind tricked me.reformating it cant do.so is there any way to unlocked it?

If you don't have the password, you cannot unlock it unless you can prove ownership and pay a substantial ammount of money. It's what's known as ATA locked and it's impossible to remove by conventional methods.
Do not try and place another drive in that laptop as that will automatically become locked as well.

As it stands, unless you can contact your room mate, you have a very nice doorstop.
