message alert box keeps disappearing

hello folks, 'm using windows xp professional and the message boxes that pop up to accept/confirm/or just click yes or no keep disappearing before i can answer them, the computer seems to automatically answer for me.  (is this just a matter of changing some settings?)

I am really quiet clueless when it comes to pc's so any help would be much appreciated.

Is there any text in the message box? Try and take a screenshot with Print Screen on the keyboard. If you've never used Print Screen button on the keyboard, post here and i'll guide you through the process.
Otherwise, post the picture of the message.

DId you change any settings or download anything recently?
