« on: August 19, 2004, 08:07:17 AM »
I get 3, then 8 beeps when switching on. Message on monitor reads "no signal. Check video cable". I have checked cables and that video card is seated correctly. tried to boot from floppy and cd but just get the same beeps and message. Tried to enter bios by pressing a variety of keys on restart but nothing happens but the beeps . Any help please. ( I'm not sure whivh version of bios is used )

Have you replaced the videocard, cables and monitor to test if they are faulty?

OK. First of all, what OS? Second, does the monitor work on another computer? Third. Does another monitor work on your computer?

If you say another monitor does function, the monitor may most likely be the problem. Perhaps a monitor cable needs replacing?

If there is still warranty on your monitor, I suggest you check to see what your options are.

Does your monitor work on another computer? AND did the OTHER monitor work on the computer it WAS connected to?

IF your monitor works on another computer, try replacing the video card.
