Is AGP slot comapatible with 4x or 8x?
« on: August 21, 2004, 10:22:27 AM »
Got a home built using a ABIT BX6 Rev2 motherboard. It came out before 4x AGP.

Goal:
I want to up grade to digital video card and lcd monitor, but not sure it slot is campatible with 4x or 8x AGP video cards.

Anyone with recommendations to get cheap compatible DVI video card and 17" lcd monitor? ???

TIA
Gary!

Here is a useful article:

AGP

If your mainboard does not have an AGP slot, you may be better of installing a PCI videocard.

Install the latest ABit BIOS update, and the last MB utilities update. Check the AGP card specs and data on the website of the manufacturer for the prospective AGP card to find out if the card is backward compatible with your 2x AGP slot, some are and some aren't.
