System recovery disc

This is kind of stupid but,
 
Would a system recovery disk or reinstall disc work in installing Windows XP on a computer with no OS?

    i dont have an OS with me im barrowing from a friend
    but from my other computer i have a re install disk will that work?

      Usually , the backup restore disks are related to a specific machine ...... So unless the both machines are the same , I would say no . I suspect by your reluctance to answer the question asked that you are trying to do something that isnt allowed .....LOL

      No it won't.... Unless the systems are exactly the same. Even if it did work, it would be illegal to do so.
