Too many...running in the background
« on: March 25, 2006, 07:38:55 PM »
when I want to trun off or restart, it takes at least 5-10 minutes.
When (ctrt+alt+delete), there are 47 items processing; when highlight any item and click end process nothing happens. :-?

    1.Do what GX says.
2.Google for the running programs and see what they are.

You could always send us your HijackThis log too. You can download it here: http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip ... Just make it scan and save logfile, and paste OR attach the .txt file to your reply on this forum. We can analyze it from here.

I have downloaded and run the following:
    1) AVG Free,
    2) Ewido,
    3) cCleaner,
    4) Hijack this

I also have Norton membership for a year which I scaned.  I have spysweeper membership for a year which I scaned.  NO RESULTS!
"Hijack this" found the following list that I am going to copy paste, and I don't know which i need to remove:

Doesn't look like there's anything nasty in there. Some of it would be optional at startup. For example, your Adobe Companion does not need ot be there at startup, Adobe Photoshop Album, Yahoo! Companion, Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Helper, MSN, Real Player Update, Quicktime Task Manager, Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition, 3 IE windows, most of these can go away from starup.

Uninstall your mentioned components that you installed in your system drive, then reboot your system, if that not works then insert your winxp cd in the cd rom drive, set the boot device priority to cd rom then restart your system.Boot from the cd,press R when it is running to repair your OS.This may take 25-30 min's.If the problem stiil occures then go to safe mode, restore your system to a previous point. That will undo all the operations doing  the problem. Restart system. If the problems goes away with
uninstalling your programs then it will be clear that your installed program has the problem.Try to reinstall all the programs. :)

How about we see somewhere near a full logfile before we decide it's clean guys?

Farr, there is a forum limit of 5500 characters per post so you'll either need to zip your logfile and attach it (better) or post it in sequential parts of <5500 characters.
