how do i get windows 2000 to come back on?

I need help in getting windows 2000 to start running again. I bought a new base unit for my computer and it was already installed with windows 2000. When I switched it on, I put the windows 2000 disk in, which I now know I shouldn't have done, and accidentally reinstalled it. My computer shut down and now I can't get back on to it. I have tried starting it up in safe mode and the last known good configuration, but neither of these have worked. When I switch my computer on, it begins to load but restarts just before the main screen comes up.

If anyone could help me with this I would be very grateful!

Hmmm, "base unit".   Haven't heard that one before, as far as computer components go.  In computer terms, exactly what do you mean?

i don't know what else to call it- it was called a base unit when i ordered it. Its the tower where the power supply comes from, where all the drives are.
