Powersupply makes high pitch noise
« on: April 16, 2006, 05:59:20 PM »
Hey, i am helping my friend build a computer, and we seem to be having a problem.  When we put the power cable into the power supply, and turn the switch to ON, it makes a really high pitch noise.  This is really bugging the heck out of me because we are so close to getting this job done.

Specs:

AMD +2800
ASPIRE ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 420W Power Supply
XFX Geforce 7800GT
1gb corsair ram
320gb HD
CD-RW/DVD-RW drive

i really hope im not the only one with this problem, and i hope its something easy to fix, thanks, zell990

Some el cheapo power supplies display this as well as other problems. These can include no name ones that come with an inexpensive case.

Who is the manufacturer? Do you have another to slip in there for a test? Is that a new case and PSU? If so, I would contact whoever you got it from.  ;)
