    IE out of memory ??
    « on: April 14, 2006, 08:50:34 AM »
Three or four times now I have had a warning window appear with the following:

    Microsoft Internet Explorer
! Out of memory at line: 94

It seems to appear the next time online after I've used IE.

    Can anyone explain?

    I have Windows XP SP2 - 768 ram - Firefox - AVG

    Thanks.

Here's the full drill. Let's make sure that system is clean before we proceed.

      Thanks for reply GX1_Man.

I took action as per the info on the link you gave -

      AVG Free is fully updated.
I have run Trend Micro Housecall - all checked and clear.
      Microsoft upgrades all ok.
      I have installed ZoneAlarm Free

      Is this enough?

After logging on a few minute ago, trying to get past ZoneAlarm to get Firefox, I got:

      A runtime error has occurred.
      Do you wish to debug?
      Line:89
      Error: Out of memory.

I ticked "yes" and a page of what looked like programming instructions appeard. I closed this and all seemed well.

I seem to be banging on about this but I thought might be relevant.

      Thanks again.

Check your running processes with task manager to see what is eating up your CPU.

I have a Windows box with a PII and 128 meg RAM with Win2K and I never get this message!

You may want to run Ewido and see if it turns up anything.  ;)

I looked at task manager for running processes, but to tell the truth I didn't understand much of what I was seeing.
Anyway, there was what I presume is a summary bar at the bottom, and this is what it showed:

        Processes: 60
        CPU Usage (varying) 0% - 10%
        Commit charge: 370M/1490M

In the list of programmes the highest usage (if thats the right word) is 28000K
        Physical memory available: 415316

You mentioned Ewido. I'm not keen on running another firewall programme - I've not got to grips with Trend Micro Housecall yet.

I hope this is of some help - excuse my ignorance.

I meant ZoneAlarm, not Trend Micro - sorry.

Ewido is for trojans, not for any sort of firewall.  ;)

I've now run Ewido Anti Malware scan and that cleared all infections.

Hopefully that will do the trick.

Thanks again for your time and advice.

              Update-

Things seem to be ok now.  No recurrence of the original problem.
I now have CCleaner which I have run and will use regularly.

One result of all this is another query I have concerning MS spyware updating, but I think it should be in the software section so I'll make another post there.

Thanks once again - I'm learning all the time.
