Please help me...windows 98se won't start
« on: May 02, 2006, 03:55:30 AM »
I have a Dell laptop pentium III with windows 98 with two C partitions and one D partition.
I use one C partition for private use (the other one i cannot acces because it can only be used with a wireless card from the university). But since yesterday when it starts windows it goes black and then C:> appears and it doesn't go through. What can i do, does anyone know what the problem is? I already tried a windows 98 floppy bootdisk

Use your boot disk to get into MS DOS
then type fdisk
you can activate your D: partition to start first instead of your C:

Thanks for the reply but the D: partition contains my data,so if i want windows to load I need the C: partition right?

I recommend you ignore the rather random response from "ITTechnician" above.

When you're are the "C:\>" prompt, what happens if you type "win"?
